The aim of this research is to determine integral and differential traits of the literary images of the USA and Scotland in Scottish emigrational poetic discourse. Methodology. The article deals with the literary images of Scotland and the USA in literary works of XIX century Scottish poets-emigrants. The basic methods of investigation are comparative analysis, method of genre analysis. Results. Positive appraisal both of Scotland and the USA is revealed. Concepts «right» and «might» are more frequently used in texts concerning Scotland, «justice» and «independence» - in texts about the USA. Urban scenery of Scotland is widely-distributed in comparison with that of the USA. Absence of myth destruction concerning both images of Scotland and the USA is explained with poets’ position. Poets-emigrants were not the part of their own native country, Scotland and, at the same time, they were not the part of their new Fatherland, the USA. Research implications. The research results contribute to the comparative study and study of emigrational literature.
